Quantum of Solace

Relationships can survive anything so long as some kind of basic humanity exists between the two people. When all kindness has gone, when one person obviously and sincerely doesn't care if the other is alive or dead, then it's just no good. That particular insult to the ego - worse, to the instinct of self-preservation - can never be forgiven. This can be noticed in hundreds of marriages. Flagrant infidelities have been patched up, crimes and even murder forgiven by the other party, let alone bankruptcy and every other form of social crime. Incurable disease, blindness, disaster - all these can be overcome. But never the death of common humanity in one of the partners.

Quantum of Solace

In my opinion one of the best English short stories. Ian Fleming proves why he deserved to be ranked among the best with this gem.

Ann Brashares

I did the searching and remembering, she did the disappearing and the forgetting.

Manna Francis

However much you wanted someone to want you, there was nothing you could do to make it happen. Whatever you did for them, whatever you gave them, whatever you let them take, it could never be enough. Never enough to be sure. Never enough to satisfy them. Never enough to stop them walking away.Never enough to make them love you. However much you wanted someone to want you, there was nothing you could do to make it happen. Whatever you did for them, whatever you gave them, whatever you let them take, it could never be enough. Never enough to be sure. Never enough to satisfy them. Never enough to stop them walking away. Never enough to make them love you.

Why do we still love?

But I do, and the barbed wire tightens once more, until my heart is strangled and broken.
- A.G. Howard, Splintered

The Chorus of Love

Some people come in your life and make you believe that your life is incomplete without them. Then they leave, creating a void in your heart that may fill back with time but will never be complete.

Love Eternal

Time seemed to stand still around me; the mornings just as cloudy and dark as the evenings, as if the sun had never decided to rise. There was no wind, like the world was holding its breath along with me, waiting for her to return.

Ending Well

He wished he could explore her body and inspect her. Learn her and memorize her. That way he'd know what to miss when she was gone. She was heartbreakingly, hauntingly beautiful. It made his heart hurt. This couldn't end well. He knew it, and still fell in love.

Loss of Love

The loss of a loved one is like the loss of a part of oneself; an arm or a leg. At first, the pain is so physical that it is hard to ignore. The trauma is so intense that the mind finds it hard to cope with the loss. With time the pain eases, the body recovers and the brain figures out new ways to go on.

Beauty of the Moment

And you have to believe me when I tell you that no one could ever be as beautiful as you are at this very moment, because I could never want anyone more than I want you right now.

What Have I Learnt?

Never be afraid to love. Just be careful who you love.
